From humble beginnings come great things, DJ Yaddy got her start to stardom long before she dropped beats on a controller. At just 11 years old Seattle Times named Yaddy the future of girls’ basketball and she went on to live up to that challenge earning a scholarship to play at Southern University, a historically black college in Baton Rouge Louisiana.
On and off the court you can always catch something fire coming through her headphones and the power of good music has always been a part of DJ Yaddy’s journey. From her first childhood radio and the bloodline connection to one of the most revolutionary rap groups of the '90s the Wu-Tang Clan, music became her first love.
DJ Yaddy is well known from hosting parties in the 206 since her teenage years to spinning nightclubs all over the US and landing a job at Broadway Media in Salt Lake City. She started in Security at what’s considered one of the greatest media companies in the region and worked in their Remote Technology Department before becoming a major player of their On-Air Promotions Team.
DJ Yaddy is proud to contribute to KEXP's mission is to enrich lives by championing music and discovery. Spinning at community events like The SHOUT Experience and The Family Community Learning Academy lead DJ Yaddy to wear a new cape, this one reads “Teacher Yaddy.” When she’s not inspiring musical memories she’s inspiring her students in her Special Education classroom in North Seattle and they’ve finished their math and writing there’s always time for her student’s favorite part of the day “The Jam Out.”
