  • Vampire Weekend have officially announced their third LP will be released in early May on XL. A new live song has surfaced online called Arms, which you can stream below. There's no confirmation, but it's likey that "Arms" and the new song "Unbelievers" they played live on Kimmel, will be on the third LP. [Stereogum]

  • Time to rethink your priorities: it's time to go to Barcelona, Spain. Primavera Sound has announced the full lineup for the festival, occurring on May 22-26 in Parc Del Fòrum, with Blur, My Bloody Valentine, The Postal Service, The Knife, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Tame Impala, Dinosaur Jr. - it's a crazy list that keeps going on and on with more KEXP favorites.     • Julian Lynch, Ethnomusicologist and woozy dream-pop extraordinaire, has released a song from his upcoming fourth LP Lines, due out in March via Underwater Peoples. The track, "Carios Kelleyi I" is named after a type of bat tick (hmm) and features Lynch's signature multi-layered construction and loping rhythms complete with some fuzzy guitar licks.     • On the latest episode of IFC's Portlandia, from Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen, has revealed the rumored cameo appearances from J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. and members of the Dirty Projectors. In the sketch is a Battle of the Gentle Bands. J. Mascis, who plays a guitarist for Bless the Barn, at one point explains that the band won't be using microphones because they don't want to hurt any insects. It's hilarious and, as the show does brilliantly, hits home for those who live in the Northwest. Check out the clip:

    • Prince has released a new song called "Screw Driver" with an accompanying lyric video. The song has got chunky guitar and a rock and roll spirit, but of course with the masterful pop sensibility of the legendary musician. Check it out below. [Stereogum]

    • Icelandic band Sigur Ros have announced via their website that they will be participating in a reddit ama session, with a live q&a and previews of new music tomorrow, January 24th, at 3pm est (that's noon for us on the west coast). Log in to ask the band anything you want. They'll be online for an hour, and the start of the session will also mean a video clip previewing new material will be released online. For now, check out their latest video in their Valtari mystery film experiment series.
