It's been "a long time coming" — The Head and the Heart's own Josiah Johnson said what was on all of their fans' minds. Though only two years have elapsed since local label Sub Pop released their self-titled debut, the Seattle band had been making a name for themselves well before, and given their stratospheric ride, from performing open mics in Ballard at Conor Byrne to selling out large theaters nationwide, their growing legion of admirers could barely contain their anticipation. The Head and the Heart's sophomore album, Let’s Be Still, followed a completely different path in production and allowed them many months to get it all right. This time, producer, engineer, and mixer Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Jónsi) helped the band reach their goal: to "make it sound how we sound when we play live". Was the wait worth it? Of course! But judge for yourself as The Head and the Heart perform live in-studio at KEXP on the day before their record release:
