  • Speaking of covers, How to Dress Well, aka Tom Krell, takes a crack at a song originally by Smog, aka Bill Callahan. The music was recorded with tourmate Aaron Read in Kuala Lumpur, with vocals recorded later in Warsaw. Krell states, "The beauty of Bill Callahan’s original song is unmatched... this is just an attempt to do honor to one of the greatest songs I’ve ever known." [Consequence of Sound]

  • David Simon, creator of HBO's smash TV series The Wire and Treme, has turned his sights to Ireland for a stage musical based on songs by The Pogues. The production will reportedly take years to hit the stage, however. Simon was working on the script with guitarist Philip Chevron, who died of cancer in October. [Rolling Stone]

  • Not only are Nirvana being inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10th, but the city of Hoquiam, Washington have declared the day as "Nirvana Day." Hoquiam lies four miles away from Kurt Cobain’s hometown of Aberdeen, and the late musician is said to have lived there for a while. [Spin]

  • UK band Yuck have shared a new video for the shoegaze-y single "Somewhere." Yuck will be back in town on January 24th at Neumos. [Spin]
