Listening to The Lonely Forest is like looking up at the Northern Lights. On a crisp evening, a river rushing behind you, pine trees spotting the landscape, the shimmering aurora borealis hypnotizes. This is what it’s like taking in the grand, pleasantly wavering vocals of Lonely Forest lead singer John Van Deusen. The band, formed in Anacortes, WA, in 2005, has a myriad of accolades to its credit, from songs featured on major networks, to “Best Of” awards to playing live on Jimmy Kimmel. Their latest album, Adding Up the Wasted Hours, was recorded by Death Cab’s Chris Walla and was the impetus to a full-on national tour, beginning, of all places, in small Wenatchee, WA, and ending with a show at the Neptune in Seattle.
