If you don't have any plans for this weekend, March 21st - 24th, (or even if you do) I highly recommend you hightail it to Idaho. Opening tomorrow in Boise Treefort Music Festival kicks off with quite the impressive lineup. The festival was started just last year with an impressive 137 bands, this year that number has grown to over 250 bands! The early bird tickets sold out in a record 17 minutes in October, but don't worry! They still have both VIP and general admission 4 day passes reasonably priced at $199 and single day passes for $50. Watch the first of a series of "Road to Treefort" videos below:
On Friday night, the soul band Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings will be delivering their special brand of funk on the main stage. With a career spanning well over a decade, the band continues to captivate audiences with their amazing stage presence. Don't take my word for it. Check out Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings' performance at SXSW in 2010.
One of the most buzzed about performances of the entire festival is, Trevor Power's music project, Youth Lagoon. The psychedelic man from California can be seen on the main stage on Sunday. Power's just released his sophomore album this month Wondrous Bughouse so fan's can expect to hear plenty of new music. Take a listen to Youth Lagoon's single "Dropla" to get ready.
Several local Seattle bands will also take the stage throughout the weekend. On Thursday, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band will perform as well as the rock duo Pony Time. Friday and Saturday's lineups include Sublime Frequencies, Deep Sea Diver, Pickwick, Campfire OK, The Hoot Hoots, and Truckasauras just to name a few. On Sunday Ben Fisher, You are Plural, and THEEsatisfaction are sure to close the festival on a kick ass note. You can get the full schedule HERE.
Celebrating 25 years as not only a Seattle but a national institution, local label Sub Pop is throwing a party on Saturday, July 13th, in the historic (and industrial) Georgetown neighborhood and we're all invited. The Silver Jubilee is free to all and features, as was announced today, an incredibl…
