Early last month, we were thrilled to present R&B musician Cody ChesnuTT at the Triple Door as part of our VIP Club Concert series. His sound is a fresh kind of soul-R&B-rock hybrid that excellently displays his raw, natural talent as an entertainer. ChesnuTT's powerful and expressive vocals make lyrics like "I used to smoke crack back in the day" seem almost soothing (from the track "Everybody's Brother"). Originally from Atlanta, Chesnutt got his start in Los Angeles as a producer and songwriter for Death Row Records. There, he produced several songs for the R&B group Six Feet Deep. After that band broke up in 2002, ChesnuTT released his own LP, The Headphone Masterpiece, a groundbreaking album if maybe a bit ahead of its time. He has since published two large studio albums, including 2012's Landing On A Hundred. KEXP donors at the Triple Door were treated to a long, seven-song spectacular session with a full band (you can see his earlier solo session from our CMJ broadcast here). Right now, Cody ChesnuTT is touring across Europe, but you can relive this amazing performance without even having to change out of your pajamas.
