May has been a big month for Mary Lambert. In the wake of the success of "Same Love" - her 2012 collaboration with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis that served as a rallying cry to same-sex couples worldwide - the Seattle-based singer/songwriter has been writing new songs, playing a series of local shows, and prepping for her biggest concert yet, making an appearance at Macklemore's headlining set at Sasquatch! this weekend. That's a lot to take in, but when she stopped by KEXP's studios for her first live session earlier this month, it was easy to see why she's earned every inch of her success. The emotional impact of her unflinching, vulnerable songwriting is only amplified by her gorgeous, expressive voice, resulting in one of the most touching in-studios KEXP has ever aired.
