Sasquatch 2013, Day 4: The Lumineers

Like Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' headlining performance on Friday night, The Lumineers' Monday evening set felt like the culmination of a whirlwind year that started with a little help from Seattle. In January 2012, John Richards began playing "Ho Hey" back-to-back on the Morning Show, the song began picking up steam on radio and commercial syncs, and by July, they were out drawing headliners Neko Case and Fitz and the Tantrums at that year's Capitol Hill Block Party. Although the band ran through most of their debut, as well as an impromptu sorta-cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?", "Ho Hey" - which was dedicated to Richards that evening - was clearly the highlight of the set, as well as Monday as a whole, because despite the song's near-ubiquitous status at this point, there's really nothing like 25,000 people singing in unison at the Gorge Amphitheater. Sure, they'll do it again at about 100 other festivals this summer, but it's hard to imagine this moment - which will surely go down in Sasquatch lore - being topped anytime soon.
