  • Next Tuesday, Third Man Records will release the latest in its ongoing series of live 12" LPs. The performances, this time from The Kills, The Shins, and Seasick Steve, were all recorded at Jack White's Nashville-based record store "Live-to-Acetate" with not post-production whatsoever. You can pre-order the series at the Third Man website now.

  • ...And he's still going! For the past 20 hours, the Ultimate Party Superhero, Andrew W.K., has been trying to break the World Record for drumming, and he's got only four more hours to go! You can watch him right now as part of the 24-hour live stream special presented by the O Music Awards from Times Square. During past hours, The Roots’ Questlove and other guests, including some random people off the street, have dropped by to help keep the beat. Watch it below and find out more here.

  • It seems not everybody's down with Father John Misty's hip-shaking grooves. Sub Pop just posted on their Tumblr a letter from a concerned fan to Sub Pop co-founder Jonathan Ponemen complains about Father John Misty's alternate persona, J. Tillman's "antics/gesticulations" on stage at a recent show. For his own part, Mr. Tillman not only approves this message but says on his Twitter: "I want to make a t-shirt of this", referring to either the letter itself or possibly the comparison of his dancing to "a cross between Philip Seymour Hoffman's character in Boogie Nights and the serial killer in Silence of the Lambs."

  • On Tuesday, we reported that The Postal Service just released a new video for "A Tattered Line of String" from the tenth anniversary edition of their one and only album, Give Up. Here they are performing that same song last night live on the Colbert Report:

  • Hot new Glasgow band CHVRCHES also played "late night" last night... with Jimmy Fallon. Check out the video below and catch them on their newly announced U.S. tour [CoS].

  • Today's hippest artists are to take part in a hip new happenin'. Multimedia artist Doug Aitken, curator of various "happenings" of late, has announced his latest, a "Nomadic Happening" called Station to Station, traveling by train to 10 cities, between New York and San Francisco, and featuring a diverse gathering of audio and visual artists. Among the musicians: Savages, Dirty Projectors, Ariel Pink, No Age. Sorry, no Seattle date is part of it, but look for the scheduled stops over at Pitchfork.
