Join us this Sunday, June 30, as KEXP and 5 Point Café present the KEXP Pride Party, an all-day celebration during Seattle Pride in historic Tilikum Place park, located at the finish line of the Pride Parade route. The party will feature music from KEXP DJs El Toro, Riz, Larry Rose and Sharlese and food provided by Seattle’s 5 Point Café. The festivities will honor Sunday’s 39th running of the parade in all its fabulous-ness!
Music will begin at 10:00 am with DJ El Toro and will continue through the evening. 5 Point Café will be roasting three whole pigs (starting at noon) and the main course will be complimented by baked beans and coleslaw – but wait there’s more! A beer garden with pints (Manny’s, Lucille IPA and PBR) and cocktails will be running full-bore (boar?)!
Music kicks off at 10:00am. Party admission to this 21+ event FREE. Plates for the pig roast are $15 a piece. Cash bar with drink specials throughout the day.

The Pride Parade itself begins at 4th Avenue & Union and will proceed north down 4th to Denny Way. The two-and-a-half-hour gala will be held rain or shine! The group Dykes on Bikes will lead the Pride Parade as “a symbol of LGBT community, communication, respect and empowerment,” according to Seattle Out and Proud.
The theme for the 2013 parade is “Equality: Passed, Present & Future” and a contest will be held to recognize “the entries that stand out to our judges” in the categories: best celebration of the theme, most colorful, outstanding presentation, most unexpected, brilliance and uniqueness. Judges include four King Country Superior Court Judges; George Pieper, former President of the Washington Stonewall Democrats; Ryan Mello, a Tacoma City Council Member; and Joan McBride, Mayor of Kirkland. First Place receives $500, second $250 and third $100. Winners will be announced at 3:00 pm at the Seattle Center.
