When England's Lucy Rose came in to KEXP's studios, the friendly, unassuming songwriter didn't give much of a hint of the powerhouse performance that was about to come out. When she began singing a set of songs from her 2012 debut, Like I Used To, the Surrey chanteuse released a For Emma-level emotional hurricane. Containing more than a few wounded barbs ("Is this what you call love?") in between verses of bright-eyed optimism, the set showcased full spectrum of Rose's songwriting range while serving as a testament to how powerful a spartan vocals-and-guitar arrangement can be.
