Another light summer week of new releases, but there's a handful hitting shelves today that you'll definitely want to check out. Portland singer-songwriter Alela Diane tops the list with her fourth album of heartbreaking (and broken) folk-pop, highlighting her rich voice and often personal lyrics. Dead Confederate frontman T. Hardy Morris strips back his band's grunge for a more heartfelt album that's heavier on twang but still maintains retains a touch of DC's psych rock flair. Long-time KEXP fave Michael Franti & Spearhead returns with another inspirational album celebrating the power of love in light of our sometimes darker times. And experimental multi-instrumentalist and electronic beatmaker Erik Nava, a.k.a. Egadz, is releasing Satellites, his latest gathering multi-media art, sounds, video games and the like into one mind-bending project.
Also worth checking out this the latest from New Orleans legend Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, a new EP from San Francisco orchestral pop collective The Family Crest, and a new LP from Brooklyn-based, 80's loving, dream pop group Heaven. Look for all of these plus a 17-disc RCA collection of Harry Nilsson and more in record stores today.
