There's probably no other festival as intimate, communal and sustainable in the Northwest like Pickathon. This weekend at the Pendarvis Farm just outside Portland, Oregon, a diverse gathering of bands like Feist, Andrew Bird, The Devil Makes Three, Divine Fits and Shabazz Palaces will perform as part of the 15th annual Pickathon Music Festival.
Ample camping availability, low crowd density, lots of kid-friendly activities and environmentally friendly policies like an efficient no single use dishware and utensils system are just some of the appealing features of Pickathon. A carefully curated lineup is of course another one. In recent years, the festival has expanded the notion of "a Pickathon artist" to include bands like Thee Oh Sees and THEESatisfaction last year, and Divine Fits, Parquet Courts and Shabazz Palaces this year. Plus, each artists plays at least twice, if not more, in different and unique venues, like the surreal Woods Stage.
It's difficult to describe just how beautiful the festival is. Check it out for yourself. Tickets are still available for the 15th annual Pickathon music festival can be purchased online.
If you just can't make it, KEXP will be offering a live video stream of select performances Friday through Sunday on our homepage.
