  • Last night in Australia, Arcade Fire celebrated what would've been the 54th birthday of Michael Hutchence with a cover of the INXS classic "Devil Inside." Watch their performance from Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl below. [Spin]

  • Speaking of the Canadian wundergroup, you can acquaint yourself below with the original motion picture soundtrack to the Academy Award-nominated movie Her, composed by Owen Pallett and Will Butler, and performed by Arcade Fire. The score has been nominated for Best Original Score, and the track "The Moon Song," a collaboration between director Spike Jonze and Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, was nominated for Best Original Song. Tune into the Academy Awards on March 2nd to see if they win. [Stereogum]

  • Earlier this week, Mogwai released their new album Rave Tapes, and now it's been announced they'll also be releasing their own whisky. Mogwai Whisky is a single cask nine-year-old Glenallachie whisky. Available next week via Glasgow's Good Spirits Co. The band have also added some new North American tour dates, but a Seattle date is suspiciously missing around Memorial Day weekend, hmmm... [Pitchfork]

  • It's been a while, but the Hold Steady are poised to release a new album in March, titled Teeth Dreams. Frontman Craig Finn told Rolling Stone magazine, “We were looking to make a big rock record. Maybe it’s less wild but in some ways that makes it a bigger record.” Stream the track "I Hope This Whole Thing Didn’t Frighten You" below. [Stereogum]
