  • Earlier this week, Julian Casablancas + the Voidz wrapped up their North American show with a guest-star-studded hometown performance at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Not only did Seattle's own Shabazz Palaces jump on stage for the Tyranny track “Father Electricity,” but Blood Orange (aka Dev Hynes) joined the band for The Strokes song "You Only Live Once." Check out the fan-shot footage below, and check out a review of the Seattle show on the KEXP Blog here. [Consequence of Sound]
    • Hip hop legends De La Soul and Chuck D of Public Enemy team up on a brand-new track, "The People." De La Soul's Trugoy told Rolling Stone, "The lyrics are commentaries of our struggles and successes, our weaknesses and strengths...the experiences, trials and tribulations we have faced as human beings, a race and individuals...Coincidentally, the Ferguson tragedy took place and now the non-indictment verdict. Somehow this song was destined to be a part of something more than just dropping a joint. We hope it will lend itself to something positive in these difficult times." Not only are the group offering the song as a free download, but proceeds from the merch sales on their website will go to I Love Ferguson (which provides aid to business owners affected by the protests) as well as All Star Code, a non-profit organization that helps young African-Americans learn computer programming. • Korallreven have shared a bright cover of Guns 'N Roses classic "November Rain." The Swedish duo said that they've been such fans of the song that "it made sense for us to cover it. Like it was written in the stars." Their sophomore album Second Coming dropped earlier this month. [Stereogum]

    • Frank Ocean took to his Tumblr to share a snippet of new music called "Memrise." It sounds like a rough-cut, but Ocean's expressive, soulful vocals are loud and clear. He's spent most of 2014 working on his sophomore album, maybe this is our first tease? [CoS]
