  • Danish singer-songwriter is ringing in 2015 with a new song brilliantly titled "New Years Eve." It's a somber song with an impressive bassline. The accompanying music video features a mix of both new and vintage black and white clips. [Stereogum]

  • Last night, REM frontman Michael Stipe played his first solo set since the band's 2011 breakup. He opened for Patti Smith in New York and sang four cover songs, as well as REM tracks "Saturn Return" and "New Test Leper." [CoS]
    • Passion Pit have hinted at plans to release a new album in the new year. This will be their latest release since 2012's Gossamer. On Christmas Eve, the duo posted a photo of a partially blacked-out tracklist their Facebook page. Also, Michael Angelakos shared his cover of Barry Manilow's "Somewhere Down The Road." [CoS]

    • Broken Social Scene shared a powerful, retrospective video for track "Golden Facelift," which was recorded four years ago during the sessions for Forgiveness Rock Record. In a press release the Canadian rockers described the track as "a song we as a band all felt strongly about lyrically and musically and we wanted to give it a proper unveiling when the time was right. We feel that chance is now as this year draws to a close. 2014 has not been without its beauty, but it has also been a year of incredible brutality and all of humanity has a great deal to answer for."
