What will they come up with? That is the question on the minds of ticket holders for this weekend’s City Arts Genre Bender performances. The Seattle-based arts magazine commissioned 10 of the city’s most innovative creators – pairing them off – to put together a unique multi-disciplinary performance... but the resulting work has been kept a secret!

Jennifer Zeyl, Genre Bender’s creative director, charmingly states, “You pay for the whole seat but you’ll only need the edge.”Musical participants for the weekend’s festivities include Trent Moorman, member of Fresh Espresso and regular collaborator with Don’t Talk to the Cops, Katie Kate, OC Notes and Vox Mod; Ahamefule J. Olu, trumpeter for Industrial Revelation and former Town Hall artist-in-residence; the singer-songwriter Kaylee Cole and more! Also artists like film director Shaun Scott, writer/director Marya Sea Kaminski, fashion designer Mark Mitchell and others will be showing off their skills in new ways.

City Arts Editor-in-Chief Leah Baltus suspects “we'll all be sitting there with our mouths agape seeing and hearing what the artists come up with – like Trent, hearing what he can do with a drum kit to replace the usual beats of Lusine's computer will be amazing!”

Genre Bender debuted as part of City Arts Fest in 2011 – combining a poet and chocolate maker, a cellist and lighting designer, a dancer and filmmaker, among others – but will now be produced as a stand-alone event twice a year.

Advance tickets, available here, are $20 and day-of-show tickets (if any remain) will be $30.
