If your Dido and Luther Vandross CDs are starting to feel a little overplayed - or, this being KEXP, let's say your Iron and Wine and Feist CDs - and you're looking for some new music of the swoony lovey variety for this Valentine's Day, you could probably do worse than Fairground Attraction. It's romantic and accessible - they were top of the pops in the UK in 1988 - but if you've heard this album at all, it's probably been a couple decades. And look at this album cover! And title! How could you go wrong?

"This is really sweet. Shuffle/folk/jazz played on acoustic guitars, guitarron, & stand up drum kit. Singer was w/Gang of Four in their waning days, if that means anything. 1-2 and 1-4 were major hits in the UK. Look around."

"This irritates me. (1-2 is OK)"

"These guys were number 1 in England this spring. You couldn't turn on the radio without hearing 'Perfect.' I got pretty sick of it!"

"Try 'The Moon Is Mine' and forget the big hit ('Perfect'). Better all-round on the second or third listen."
