  • A documentary about beloved singer/songwriter Elliott Smith is scheduled to make its world premiere at the San Francisco International Film Festival on May 5th. Director Nickolas Rossi describes the film as "an intimate, meditative inquiry into the life and music of Elliott Smith." Titled Heaven Adores You, the film features unreleased songs and rare footage, in addition to interviews with Smith’s friends and family. Watch an early trailer below. KEXP will keep you updated on future Seattle screenings. [Consequence of Sound]

  • West coast band Thee Oh Sees will drop their fifth album, titled, uh, Drop, on April 19th via frontman John Dwyer's label Castleface. Stream the title track below, but don't get too excited: apparently the band are still on hiatus, as the album was recorded last fall before that announcement was made. At least we have new music to tide us over in the meanwhile. [Stereogum]

  • Duo Wye Oak have shared the video for the track "The Tower," from their forthcoming album, Shriek out April 29th on Merge Records. Watch the impressive choreography below. [Consequence of Sound]

  • Back in February, we shared the news that local label Sub Pop Records were planning to open a retail outlet at Sea-Tac Airport. Today, we have news that their doors will open to the public on May 1st, featuring "a variety of Sub Pop-related merchandise including music, apparel, books, special travel items, art and more." Check out an artist's rendering of the store at the link. [Spin]
