It's difficult to imagine Iska Dhaaf as only a two-piece, even when they're right in front of you. The sound of their full-bodied post-punk is supported by Benjamin Verdoes' (Mt. St. Helen's Vietnam Band) unique ability to simultaneously play the keyboard and drums. It takes a talented musician to keep a band on beat, but to play two totally separate parts of the rhythm section together takes, to say the least, quite a bit of skill. Throughout the set, Nathan Quiroga (Buffalo Madonna) whipped out sweet riffs and his guitar-face alone, oscillating between beet red and royal purple, is worth a watch. So, we've brought you the Live Video, hoping you'll love this Seattle supergroup just as much as we do. They jammed through some of their debut album, Even The Sun Will Burn, and afterward photographer Dave Lichterman coaxed the two to scramble up the massive pile of dirt, dust, and debris behind Hilliard's for a sweet picture, documenting the duo's gung-ho nature and their symbolic journey toward the top of the Seattle music scene.
