When Iceland wants to party, there are few bands who can get a room jumping faster than FM Belfast. The merry band of friends began about nine years ago when when Árni Hlöðversson, Árni Vilhjálmsson and Lóa Hlín Hjálmtýsdóttir turned their studio project into a frenetic live act, adding Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason (múm) plus a rotating cast of others to appear onstage dancing and performing (maybe both). On each of their three records, including the recently released Brighter Days, they've chosen the lighter path of EDM, turning disco and other retro stylings toward an updated and constantly upbeat brand of electro-pop. As on today's featured song, Everything, their lyrics, carefree but not careless, ask only the slightest bit of your attention before letting you throw your hands in the air and jog in place like you're in a manic Jazzercise commercial. Yes, it's true, "hard days will follow you to the end", but "right now, right here" FM Belfast wants you to "leave everything at the door" and "empty your mind" so you can just feel good feeling good. Indeed, brighter days are now.

Unfortunately, there are no plans currently in the works for any U.S. shows, but next month, FM Belfast embarks on a European tour and will be performing Iceland Airwaves once again, so hopefully you'll find more opportunities to lose yourself in their tunes.
