Say Hi - Figure It Out (MP3)
KEXP has been greeting local artist Say Hi for a long time, even going back to the mid-2000s when he recorded under the name "Say Hi to Your Mom."
Behind the friendly welcome is one man: home-recording wizard and multi-instrumentalist Eric Elbogen. He describes his eighth and latest album, Endless Wonder, as "a record about the presence and absence of love, in every flavor imaginable [that] will very likely cause your butt to wiggle." And how could it not? Using a wide array of keyboards (Moogs, Korgs, Rolands, Xoxbox-es, and his list goes on) and the very occasional Fenders and Gibsons, Elbogen's crafts a new wave love letter on the new full-length. Synth-beats provide the backdrop for his hiccup-y '80s vocal style and poignant lyrics, like on today's featured track "Figure It Out." It's no wonder Kevin Cole chose this as his "Song of the Day."
You can follow Eric on Twitter and Facebook. Say Hi was recently live on The Midday Show on KEXP, which you can stream here, and take a trip down memory lane with his performance at the 2010 Concerts at the Mural:
