When Aaron Dessner of The National hands you the keys to his recording studio, you don't say no. That's exactly what happened when Australian indie-folk duo Luluc relocated to Brooklyn to record their second album, Passerby, out now on Sub Pop Records. The duo of Zoë Randell and Steve Hassett had been slowly gaining word-of-mouth for their stunning, introspective 2008 debut, Dear Hamlyn, which No Depression cofounder Peter Blackstock called "the most beautiful record I have heard in 10 years." Blackstock introduced the band to local label Sub Pop, who signed them immediately. It's a testament to the beauty of their quiet songs that they spoke so loudly to so many.
