Now in its 14th year, the Summer Meltdown Music Festival in Darrington, WA is always a great time, and 2014 is an especially good year to make the 90-minute trip up north for it. Back in March, a mudslide in nearby Oso killed 43 people. The Stillaguamish Valley area is still working towards economic recovery, and what better way to help than by seeing great music this Thursday, August 7th through Sunday, August 10th?
Headlining the festival is Chewelah, WA's own soulful hippie Allen Stone. Broadway's beloved Sir Mix-a-Lot is sure to get the rumps shakin'. Neon Indian will be throwing down a DJ set, and local favorites Lord Huron, Black Joe Lewis, and The Grizzled Mighty are just a few of the additional artists filling out the impressive line-up!The festival's slogan is "where the music meets the mountain," and that'll certainly be true this weekend at the Whitehorse Mountain Amphitheater. Tickets for this family-friendly festival include four days and nights of onsite camping. The music kicks off today, so visit their site to purchase passes, and then hit the road!
Seattle has increasingly become a more bike-friendly town. For the past few years, KEXP has proudly hosted an Energizer Station during "Bike to Work Day."
