Song of the Day: Garden City Movement - Entertainment

Don’t rush to add Garden City Movement to a list of obscure band names. The Israeli group’s title dates back to the planning and construction of some of your favorite cities, including the band’s home, Tel Aviv. But we're not here to talk urban planning. Garden City Movement is Johnny, Roi, and Joe, a trio whose intricately woven tracks have maneuvered their way into critical focus. The group’s EP, Entertainment, scored them a European tour and praise from fans and reviewers alike.

Damp, echoing clanks, rattles, and drips lay the foundation of “Entertainment,” where it sounds like someone is hard at work crafting beats with a hammer in a dank basement. The space warms and is fully uncovered with the appearance of trickling, melodic blips and pops along with a dialogue between phantom high and low pitched vocals. Out of minimal, clean beats and barely intelligible lyrics, the trio manages to fashion a compelling vignette.

While Garden City Movement hasn't announced any shows in Seattle (which -- back to urban planning -- was not a part of the original movement), the group's Facebook and Twitter offer up to date information on their whereabouts. Watch their pastel-steeped video for "Move On" below:
