Today, Wednesday, December 9th, KEXP leaves behind our old station at Dexter Avenue and Denny Way, moving into our New Home in Seattle Center. We asked our volunteer photographers to share some of their favorite shots of the old building. If a picture says a million words, then scroll through these photos to see the story of Dexter and Denny:
Pretty early on into my shooting at KEXP, there was a Sub Pop take-over day on air, before Sub Pop's Silver Jubilee of turning 25. I was turning 25 that year too, and Sub Pop's always been dear to me. Two of my all time favorite bands (Foals and Fleet Foxes) have been on the label, and during this take over of the station in 2013, I got to meet Jonathan Poneman and Megan Jasper from the label, as well as photograph Christian Wargo's set for the day (of Fleet Foxes, Poor Moon, etc.). The experience was something years ago I never would have thought I'd be living, and KEXP brought this and many other enriching memories to my music-loving life. -- Bebe Labree Besch
Dry the River came by for an in-studio during a fund raising drive and they pretended to take calls (and I think may have even taken one for real!). -- Morgen Schuler
