It's been a long journey for local artist Cataldo (aka singer/songwriter Eric Anderson), and part of that drive has been beautifully captured in today's video premiere: KEXP is excited to present the debut of "Gilded Oldies," the title track off his most recent self-released full-length.
The video was filmed last year by director Tyler Kalberg, who's been right there since the album's 2014 release. Kalberg captured the tour all across the Northwest, "from a house show in Moscow, ID, to Memorial Stadium for Bumbershoot," as he puts it.
Anderson adds, "It's funny, we started out with hugely ambitious, conceptually-muddled ideas for working on a video for Gilded Oldies. Things involving horses, flame throwers, a proprietary 3D capturing technology, etc. I love that we ended up with this really sweet, nostalgic, travelogue of some touring last summer. For me, personally, it's a message in a bottle of this era of the band; I'm excited I have this to look back on in the future. For others, hopefully a little window into our personalities and the minutiae of hopping in a van to play rock music."
Cataldo will hop in the van for a performance at Sasquatch this Memorial Day weekend. You can catch the band before that on Thursday, March 26th at Barboza, with Chris Staples and Valley Maker.
