  • Courtney Barnett brings us the dark, somber video for the track "Kim's Caravan" off her latest Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit. She says the song was inspired by her concerns for the Great Barrier Reef, and describes the tune as "an apocalyptic tale of our world painted black with oil and soot, painted red with blood and greed." Watch below. "Kim's Caravan" will be released as a limited edition 12" single this Saturday for Record Store Day (it's one of DJ Kevin Cole's picks!), and the b-side is her cover of John Cale's "Close Watch." • It's been a busy year for a fictional band: Polaris, a side project featuring members of Miracle Legion, formed in the mid-'90s to compose the soundtrack for Nickelodeon TV show The Adventures of Pete & Pete. This Saturday, you can find a reissue of the show's score Music From The Adventures Of Pete And Pete for Record Store Day, the band will be LIVE on KEXP on Wednesday, April 22nd, and playing The Crocodile later that night, phew! In this cute animated clip below, Muggy Polaris (aka frontman Mark Mulcahy) reminisces about a time he visited the set of the show. Watch: [AV Club]

  • You may recognize Shana Cleveland as the frontwoman for surf-queens La Luz, but today, she shares a track from her new project, Shana Cleveland & The Sandcastles. Stream the lovely single "Itching Around" below, which Cleveland says was written "during a year right before I moved to Seattle when I was lonely and bummed out in the San Fernando Valley and found solace in spending long afternoons fingerpicking slow moving improvisations." Their debut release Oh Man, Cover The Ground is out May 26th via Suicide Squeeze. [Stereogum]

  • There's nothing like the friendship between a boy and his pet, especially if that pet is a giant, rainbow-colored fish. In the new Caribou video for the track "Can’t Do Without You," director Lorenzo Fonda takes a portrait of their relationship, from elation to depression. Pining for a piñata-esque friend of your own? The band are currently holding a contest for you to win the video's co-star, a 12-foot long, five-foot tall, four-foot wide, 50-pound beast. Good luck! [Consequence of Sound]
