For one week only, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, the only ever fully authorized portrait of the famed music icon, will screen in Seattle at the SIFF Egyptian theater. Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Brett Morgen will be in attendance on opening night, Thursday, April 23rd, at 7:00 PM. Be sure to tune in to The Morning Show on KEXP tomorrow morning at 8:15 AM PT as DJ John Richards chats with the director about the grunge icon and his legacy.
Morgen (The Kid Stays in the Picture, Crossfire Hurricane) was granted unprecedented access to Cobain’s archives, unearthing never-before-seen home movies, recordings, artwork, photography, and journals. Morgen crafts these discoveries into a beautiful, intimate portrait that is already being hailed as "the definitive Cobain documentary." For the past eight years, he has worked with the Cobain estate to paint an honest portrayal of the artist's life, with his daughter Frances Bean Cobain as a co-executive producer on the film. If you're not able to make it to the SIFF Egyptian before the final screening on Thursday, April 30th, the film will screen on HBO on Monday, May 4th.
