  • Brooklyn duo Ratatat are gearing up for the July 17th release of Magnifique, their first full-length album in five years. They've shared a new song and it's accompanying video called "Abrasive". Be sure to catch them live at the Capitol Hill Block Party July 24-26! [CoS]

  • Vampire Weekend's Chris Baio will release his debut solo album The Names on September 18. Today, he's unveiled "Sister of Pearl", abright number that's reminiscent of his work with Vampire Weekend. In an interview with Pitchfork, Baio described the song as a "throwback pop song with a simple, straight-forward lyrical message: be who you want to be." [SPIN]

  • Mates of State's video for "Staring Contest" is definitely the best thing I've seen all day. Talent must run in the family, because Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel's daughters Magnolia and June stole the show. According to the couple, the video is:
"based on a true story of our daughter June’s intro to her class. Kids are allowed to bring in a book to read to the class. June instead chose to sing an Adele song to them. We re-imagined this performance into a full-on blow out party."
Wow. A kid that's gutsy enough to take on an Adele song? Parenting...you're doing it right. Also, where can I get one of those sequined, silver ponchos?

    • Mac Demarco premiered a new track title "Another One". In the video, he channels Michael Jackson and while his dance moves are pretty good, the mask is truly terrifying. His mini-album Another One drops on August 7. [Pitchfork]
