While we wait for a new Parquet Courts full-length, the boys from Brooklyn tease fans with two split 7" releases instead. Today, they unveil a collaboration with Vermont artist Joey Pizza Slice (which is a GREAT name, btw): only 500 copies will be pressed of this August 11th release via Wharf Cat. On August 14th, they'll release a live 7" with Big Ups. Hear Parquet Courts cover Joey's track "Pretty Girls" below. [Pitchfork]

Indie rock pioneers Pavement are set to release not one, but five, rarities collections, and they're kicking it off on August 11th with The Secret History Vol. 1, a double LP, on Matador Records. A press release breaks it down: "The 30 tracks, 25 of which will be available on vinyl for the first time ever, include B-sides, unreleased session tracks, John Peel sessions, and a 1992 live concert from the Slanted and Enchanted era (1990-1992). The deluxe double LP contains essays by Stephen Malkmus and Spiral Stairs, plus essays from Matador Records, Billions Corporation, and Drag City bosses, and a gorgeous gatefold designed by Rob Carmichael (Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors)." Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn returns with his sophomore solo release, the optimistically-titled Faith In The Future. Today, Finn shares the poignant track "Newmyer’s Roof," a song loosely inspired by watching the World Trade Center fall while sitting on his friend’s rooftop in 2001. He shares a beautiful story with NPR about the track, reminding us all, sometimes it's best not to do what you're told. Faith In The Future hits stores, appropriately enough, on September 11th via Partisan Records. [Stereogum]

Last night, Australian sensation Courtney Barnett hit the stage of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon wearing a Chastity Belt t-shirt — hometown represent!
