  • Aw man, not again! On Friday night, after The Replacements' performance at Primavera Porto in Barcelona, Spain, frontman Paul Westerberg said it would be the last time they'd play together. (The band first formed in 1979, and first broke up in 1991, before their 2012 reunion.) Westerberg told the audience the band had skipped soundcheck in favor of hanging out at the hotel, adding "Lazy bastards to the end," before smashing his guitar. Another clue comes from the hand-painted t-shirts Westerberg has been wearing on the tour, with a single letter of the alphabet written on the front and back. Fans spelled out the message to read: "I have always loved you. Now I must whore my past." Oof. If you missed their Seattle show at The Paramount, read KEXP's report here. [Rolling Stone]

  • Seattle's own Craft Spells share a new video from last year's excellent Captured Tracks release Nausea. Directed by Shaun Libman, the video for "Twirl" shows a relationship in disarray. The band will spend the fall on tour with Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, including a Wednesday, September 16th stop at The Showbox. You can also catch them this summer for free as part of the Out to Lunch Concert Series, Friday, July 24th at Westlake Park. [Under the Radar]

  • When not making dreamy pop songs with the band Real Estate, guitarist Matt Mondanile creates dreamy pop songs under the alias Ducktails. For his upcoming full-length St. Catherine, he's left behind the bedroom studio to work with Rob Schnapf, co-producer of Elliot Smith’s XO and Either/Or. Hear the results with the track "Surreal Exposure." St. Catherine hits stores on July 24th via Domino Records. [Stereogum]

  • It's a '90s alternarock dream: Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon and Dinosaur Jr's J Mascis have combined feedback powers for the track "Slow Boy." Appropriately enough, it will appear on an EP released by Converse Sneakers, CONS Vol. 3. The mini-album comes out earlier this year, and will feature two more tracks from the power duo. Stay tuned.
