Telekinesis - In A Future World (MP3)
After feeling uninspired at the beginning of the recording process, it is no surprise that Michael Benjamin Lerner is titling his newest Telekinesis album Ad Infinitum. Even more fitting, is the fact that he released the song "In A Future World" along with the album announcement. The track, which showcases an arsenal of rich synths and stepping drums dancing through church bell chimes, clearly shows that Lerner found his new inspiration in the synths and sounds of the 80's. It is definitely a new approach for Telekinesis, but not one that distorts the great pop-sensibilities Lerner has perfected over his career. Instead, if anything, they are enhanced; giving new life to the Telekinesis sound without distorting it.
You'll have to wait until September 18th to find Ad Infinitum in record stores. After that, you can see Telekinesis when they hit the road with Say Hi beginning October 1st in Bellingham, WA, an then touring more frequently after that. Until then, keep up with Telekinesis on Facebook and the band's website, and check out Lerner's recent performance for KEXP during our Hood-to-Hood West Seattle Day below:

Sets from Acid Tongue and Black Whales showed the strength of Seattle's music scene, and left all…
The fact that Theoretics remixed the Blade Runner theme a few months back automatically backs up drummer Adam Gross' statement, "We're all sort of sci-fi nerds." A five-piece livetronica band from our very own city, Theoretics certainly deliver sound-wise, taking us on a funky space-age aural explo…
