As Oli Bayston, a.k.a. Boxed In, says, "Everyone who creates something is a product of their influences" - and he should know. The British record producer certainly has had a wide of array of influences, growing out of his previous work as frontman for the four-piece Manchester rock band Keith and working behind the scenes in recent years writing and engineering songs for other artists. Bayston's back in the spotlight with his solo project Boxed In and a self-titled debut album released last January. Atmospheric synths, jumpy piano riffs and discordant, funky bass lines coupled with Bayston's distinctive, deadpan vocals results in a truly unique form of upbeat dance pop. The music is frenzy of so many different textures it's almost overwhelming, but undeniably danceable. Stylish and full of whimsy, Boxed In's music is an honest-to-God treat.
