Diane Coffee - Mayflower (MP3)
Totally caffeinated and ready to take over the world, Shaun Fleming, a.k.a. Diane Coffee, is no stranger to showbiz. The California-bred Fleming started his career as a Disney voice actor, but shifted focus when he moved cross-country to New York and rose as the drummer for Foxygen, the indie rock lovechild of Sam France and Jonathan Rado, a band now infamously known for their chaotic antics on-stage and off. Fleming later stepped into the limelight himself with his solo side-project Diane Coffee, a name that honors both Nathan Pelkey's song "Mr. Coffee" and music legend Diana Ross. Following his ambitious 2013 inaugural LP, My Friend Fish, he now presents us with Everybody's A Good Dog, out this fall. There is no lacking in flair or glam in any of Fleming's music with his self-described "psychedelic motown" sound. It's theatrical, it's expressive, it's big, and his latest single "Mayflower" is no exception. The song opens with a sunny brass fanfare and marches along to deliver old-school retro vibes and a healthy dose of bright, funky '60s and '70s rock and roll. Diane Coffee's sophomore album Everybody's A Good Dog is set to be released September 4th on Western Vinyl Records and looks like it's going to be one for the books.
Diane Coffee is touring with of Montreal through North America this fall, with a October 31 stop at the Neptune Theatre.
