Local hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis return with the sentimental track "Growing Up," dedicated to Macklemore’s baby daughter, Sloane. He says on his website, "When you try to escape yourself, life has an interesting way of creating situations that force you to come back. To look at who you are. This is why “Growing Up” felt like the right song to re-emerge with. It’s where I’ve been the last year, through all the ups and downs. We didn’t want to do a big campaign or anything over the top with this. We just wanted to put out good music, directly to the people that have been here since the beginning. As we mentioned late last month, Dinosaur Jr/Sebadoh/Sentridoh/Folk Implosion member Lou Barlow has a new solo album coming out in September titled Brace the Wave. Today, he shares the track "Moving," and is it just me, or is he sounding a little Eddie Vedder-ish on this one? Brace the Wave hits stores September 4th via Joyful Noise Recordings. [Pitchfork]

Local electronic lady Briana Marela releases her debut full-length, All Around Us, on August 21st via Jagjaguwar. The album was recorded in Reykjavik, Iceland, produced by Sigur Rós' Alex Somers, and features strings by Amiina, so we're pretty sure DJ Kevin Cole is gonna love it. For the first time ever, the full Fecal Matter demo, Illiteracy Will Prevail, has been shared online. The creatively-named band was formed by an 18-year-old Kurt Cobain back in 1985, and when Krist Novoselic heard the album, he reached out to Cobain to form a band you may have heard of.
