Sun Liquor and Silversun Pickups - the pairing pretty much writes itself - yet there's so much more to the LA band's relationship to KEXP and history behind their generosity in performing an exclusive show for our donors. Our love for Silversun Pickups goes back to their debut EP, Pikul. KEXP was not only one of the first stations to play them, but their song "Kissing Families" became a daily anthem. That was a decade ago. Since then, we've hosted the band live at a range of venues - in-studio, at The Triple Door, at SXSW - and watched them become a great success. When they came back to us to promote their fourth full-length (released just this past Friday), they asked to do something special and help KEXP raise funds for our new home, so fifty fans huddled around as band founders Nikki Monninger and Brian Aubert shared songs, and jokes, from their stools at the vintage bar located in Seattle's Capitol Hill. It was an intimate moment of mutual admiration shared by a lucky few, but now you can take part in this exclusive acoustic performance and the band's hilarious conversation with DJ Troy Nelson. It is your support that helps make incredible performances like this one happen. KEXP is currently in the midst of our Fall Fundraising Drive. Please consider making a gift so that we can continue to discover new bands, like we did with Silversun Pickups back in the day, and provide them the opportunity to grow and find new fans.

The Gdansk-born composer, performer and bass player has recorded many albums of his own throughou…
