  • Oklahoma-via-Outer Space band The Flaming Lips have announced a new album, Oczy Mlody, their first new LP since 2013's The Terror. Get a teaser with a snippet of the track "The Castle" below. Oczy Mlody hits stores on January 13th (frontman Wayne Coyne's birthday) via Warner Bros. Records. We'll wait and see if they'll release it embedded in jello, or as a glow-in-the-dark USB stick, or something. [Under the Radar]

  • Speaking of teases, fans think Jeff Mangum might be releasing new music from Neutral Milk Hotel soon. For over a decade, Mangum has been selling artwork of the band's website. One buyer reports via Reddit that his drawing appears to say "Double LP" hidden among the lines. If this fan is indeed correct, it'll be the group's first new music since 1998's In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. Stay tuned. [Stereogum]

  • Toronto-based group Austra -- led by classically trained pianist/vocalist Katie Stelmanis -- have announced a new album today: Future Politics, out January 20th via Domino. Check out the single "Utopia" below in a video directed by production duo THAT GO. In a press release, Stelmanis explains the LP has nothing to do with the election (she's Canadian, y'know). "It’s not about ‘being political,’ it’s about reaching beyond boundaries, in every single field." [Pitchfork]

  • Brooklyn-based producer Daniel Lopatin -- better known as Oneohtrix Point Never -- teams up with Batman for a new video. Actor Val Kilmer gets spacey in the clip for "Animals," a track off last year's LP Garden of Delete. Director Rick Alverson (originally from Spokane!) cut through frames to give the video its wobbly feel. Watch below: [Rolling Stone]
