  • Well, it is the album that beat out Nevermind in Spin Magazine's Best Albums of 1991 list: Ben Gibbard has announced he'll be covering Teenage Fanclub's Bandwagonesque in its entirety. "Bandwagonesque is my favorite record by my favorite band of all time," he said, via a press release. "It came along at a pivotal time in my musical life and I’ve loved it for over 25 years. It’s been such a blast taking these songs apart to see how they work and then putting them back together again." The LP is being recorded as part of a series by Turntable Kitchen’s Sounds Delicious 2017 monthly subscription service, and will only be pressed on vinyl. A few other albums in the series include Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado covering Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run, Yumi Zouma covering Oasis’ (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart (with Kristin Kontrol and Titus Andronicus members) playing Tom Petty’s Full Moon Fever. • Floridian rockers Surfer Blood return with their first new album since the tragic passing of their guitarist Thomas Fekete, who passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer. Check out the single "Matter of Time" from their forthcoming full-length, Snowdonia. With all the band members having met in high school, the video appropriately has a yearbook theme. The guys are heading out on tour in early 2017, including two nights in Seattle -- Saturday, February 11th and Sunday, February 12th at Barboza. Snowdonia hits stores on February 3rd via Joyful Noise. [Under the Radar]

  • Clap Your Hands Say Yeah announced a new album today, too. Their fifth full-length The Tourist will be out February 24th via Undertow. Like previous releases, the album was written by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Alec Ounsworth. Ounsworth described the release as "a type of purge. A purge of certain emotional confusion that manifested itself in the last several years. It was not an easy album to make, by virtue of the fact that it was an emotional time for me." Recording took place at Dr. Dog’s Philadelphia-based studio before legendary producer Dave Fridmann got his hands on it. "Dave and I don’t necessarily stick with what’s easiest which is fine and anxiety-inducing, in a good way. He challenges me to do something a little bit different," Ounsworth adds. North American tour dates kick off in March, including a Friday, March 17th stop at The Crocodile. [Consequence of Sound]

  • Following a stellar performance with A Tribe Called Quest last week, prolific rapper Busta Rhymes shares a new track titled "AAAHHHH!!!," a collaboration with Swizz Beatz. If it sounds familiar, he debuted the single at the Showtime At The Apollo 30th anniversary special. Listen below: [Stereogum]
