  • Who doesn't want to learn how to play guitar like Bob Mould? The veteran musician has certainly honed his chops over the last 40 years with previous projects Hüsker Dü and Sugar, and last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he broke down his technique. Watch below. He and his fantastic band also tore through the track "The End Of Things" off his latest Merge Records release, Patch The Sky. Bob and friends will be LIVE on KEXP on Tuesday, May 10th at 3:00 PM PT, and playing The Showbox later that night. [Under the Radar]

  • Another of our KEXP Grand Opening performers makes the news today: local dude David Bazan shares the single "Kept Secrets" from his forthcoming full-length, Blanco, out May 13th on Barsuk. Bazan tells Stereogum, "The legend of 'Kept Secrets' is that I wrote it alone on tour in a cabin in the mountains. That also happens to be in the delta with synth sounds that I made from tightly looping shards of noise that I had originally created by feeding a thrift store mixer back into itself. Which is something I did in headphones at night in my hotel room for recreation after playing the shows night after night that spawned the problem that this song is ostensibly about, thus achieving ouroboros." • Toronto-based collective Holy Fuck share a clip for the track "Tom Tom," off their upcoming release Congrats, out May 27th on Innovative Leisure. Director Michael Leblanc captures a teenage boy's trip through a Romanian town. In a press release, Leblanc explains, "Brian and I decided to shoot the video in Romania so we could cast authentic people in a unfamiliar setting. I wanted to shoot most of the scenes when the sky was just about to fade and use as much natural light as possible. This helped with the surreal style I was trying to create." Watch below. Holy Fuck bring the beats to Seattle on Saturday, June 18th at The Crocodile. [Pitchfork]

  • Earlier this week, west coast rapper Aesop Rock had the KEXP Song of the Day with "Rings," a single from his upcoming LP The Incredible Kid, due April 29th on Rhymesayers Entertainment. Today, you can stream the entire album below, along with a pretty excellent remake of the classic film The Shining. In a statement, he's described the new album as "a personal record that explores death, depression, and family issues." Watch below: [Consequence of Sound]
