Minneapolis must have been a magical place in the '80s with bands like Hüsker Dü breaking through the mainstream, and venues like First Avenue and the 7th Street Entry helping hone these rising new stars. A little bit of that magic was in the KEXP studios this day as Hüsker Dü's former frontman, Bob Mould, was joined by former First Avenue house DJ, current KEXP DJ Kevin Cole. It's been nearly 40 years since Mould began unleashing his snarling vocals, searing guitars, and whip-smart lyrics on the public, and who can believe his new album Patch the Sky is his twelfth solo release. But, Mould is as vital as ever, displaying an energy stronger than kids half his age, alongside the "best band" he's ever played with, Jason Narducy (Split Single) and Jon Wurster (Superchunk, Mountain Goats, more).
