Originally hailing from North Wales and now based in London, The Joy Formidable is a powerhouse dream rock trio. The live show-dominating, wild-eyed outfit recently released their third studio album, Hitch, once again demonstrating their emotional shoegaze and melody-driving arena pop. However, to mix things up a bit and to preview their set at Capitol Hill Block Party, Rhiannon "Ritzy" Bryan (lead vocals, guitar), Rhydian Dafydd (backing vocals, guitar), and Matthew James Thomas (on cajon) performed a stripped down, acoustic-riffing of new and old songs in the KEXP studio, highlighting their brilliant harmonies and dynamic songwriting. Catch this intimate set, including an acoustic debut of "Radio of Lips" off Hitch, and hear them talk about their cover of the Twin Peaks theme song.
