Simic is the alias of Ben Block, a Seattle-based DJ, electronic producer, and core member of the local secondnature collective. With musical interests weaving from classic house and techno to krautrock and 80’s sonic experiments, his sets reflect an immersive and dynamic quality that comes from a search for music that is both effective on the dancefloor and stimulating to the mind. In 2017 he has released COROT-7b, a 12” on Los Angeles’s Acid Camp and has a new EP, Discussion of Interests, coming out this month on secondnature’s own label. His exclusive guest DJ mix for Midnight in a Perfect World eases in with some gorgeous, drifting ambient pieces before diving into a cerebral blend of minimal techno grooves for a thoroughly hypnotic and stimulating sonic journey.
