We're a week away from the release of the new Father John Misty album, the highly-anticipated Pure Comedy, out April 7th on Sub Pop Records. He's been sharing tracks left-and-right all year, including a 13-minute opus titled "Leaving L.A." Today, he offers up the Radio Edit, which whittles it down to three minutes, and cuts great lyrics like "Oh great, that’s just what we all need/Another white guy in 2017 who takes himself so goddamn seriously." Listen below, and tune in next Friday, April 7th from Noon to 2 PM PT as KEXP presents an exclusive first-listen of Pure Comedy in its entirety (with the 13-minute version of "Leaving L.A." 'cause we can do that). KEXP's DJ Cheryl Waters will go through the album track-by-track with Josh Tillman in what's sure to be a fascinating and funny on-air chat. With all that business about her old band Dirty Projectors behind her, Amber Coffman is moving forward in promoting her debut solo album, City of No Reply. She previously released the single "All to Myself"; today, she shares the track "No Coffee." Listen below. No official release date yet, but when it's out, it'll be out via Columbia Records. UK artist Sampha has shared a 36-minute companion film to his new album of the same name, Process. Watch a trailer below, and the full film via iTunes here. The clip was directed by Khalil Joseph, who previously worked on Beyoncé’s Lemonade video, and the film (and the album) are both dedicated to Sampha’s mother, who died of cancer in September 2015. Sampha plays Monday, April 24th at WaMu Theatre, opening for The xx, and he'll be LIVE on KEXP that afternoon at 4:00 PM PT. [ Consequence of Sound ]

Canadian collective Broken Social Scene showed up to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to perform their new single (and first new song in seven years), "Halfway Home." While the line-up of the band has always been flexible, on stage, it bloomed to 15 musicians, including frequent collaborators Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw of Metric, as well as Stars’ Amy Millan and Evan Cranley. As frontman Kevin Drew says as the end of the performance, "Friendship, ladies and gentlemen." Aww. No news yet on an album title or release date, but you can keep track of late night television highlights like this with KEXP's TV Eye. [ Stereogum ]
