If you missed the announcement on The Morning Show on KEXP earlier today, we're excited to share the initial line-up for the 2017 Timber! Outdoor Music Festival! Celebrating its fifth year, Timber! invites you to the rural splendor of Carnation, Washington July 13th-14th for another fun, family-friendly weekend of music and activities.
This year's headliners include: Shovels & Rope, Saundra and Starr (backing vocalists for Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings), Sera Cahoone, A True Loves “Soul Revue” with Adra Boo (of Fly Moon Royalty), and a Violent Femmes Campfire Sing-A-Long with KEXP's very own DJ Troy Nelson. Children's concerts feature The Not-It’s and Shumba Marimba Ensemble. And, DJ Greg Vandy, host of The Roadhouse on KEXP, will be spinning an all-vinyl set.As always, the crew at Timber! have some summertime fun planned. Attendees are invited to camp under the stars, swim in the river, lay out in the sun, and REI will present its usual list of outdoor adventures, which include kayaking, paddle boarding, mountain biking, hiking, outdoor yoga classes, stargazing with astrophysicists, and more. This year, they're adding to the itinerary a Bob Ross Painting Party, led by Janine Chiorazzi, Seattle based artist and teacher, a Zaireeka Listening Party (that's the Flaming Lips album released on four separate albums meant to be played simultaneously), and Adult Flash Light Tag (watch out for tree branches!).
Weekend Passes are $65 each (children under 12 are free). Festival camping starts at $35 for the whole weekend with only a few “premium accommodations” still available. Check out all the details, and get your tickets, at timbermusicfest.com.
