Japanese Breakfast (aka Michelle Zauner) has shared a new video for "Boyish" off of last year's sophomore album Soft Sounds from Another Planet. The video was self-directed by Zauner and in a lengthy statement on Instagram, she calls the video her "magnum opus." Currently, the video is only available on Apple Music, but a snippet of it is available to watch on Instagram. There are a couple of upcoming opportunities to see Japanese Breakfast live. The first is this Thursday, February 15 at Neumos with Jay Som and Hand Habits, presented by KEXP and Neumos. English electronic duo Mount Kimbie have unveiled a new song called "Turtle Neck Man" with frequent collaborator King Krule. The track is short, at only 1 minute and 22 seconds, but makes an impact. Mount Kimbie released their fantastic album Love What Survives last year, which featured King Krule on the track "Blue Train Lines." King Krule also released an album last year, The OOZ. The new song comes along with an announcement of an upcoming North American tour which sees Mount Kimbie arrive in Seattle on May 16 to play Neumos. [ Under the Radar ]

Canadian post-punk band Preoccupations, formerly known and criticized for being called Viet Cong, are releasing their first album since their critically-loved 2016 self-titled. Called New Material, the album will be out March 23 on Jagjaguwar. Today they've shared the second single, "Antidote," along with a video directed by Evan Pierce and band member Michael Wallace. According to band member Matt Flegel, "'Antidote' is about humans forgetting that we’re apes, it’s about trying to make sense out of something that we’d be better off not trying to make sense of. Its about having infinite knowledge at our fingertips, but still making all the wrong choices over and over. It’s about trying to find a moment in your day where you can take a breath and remember that we’re basically all just animals bumbling around." Richmond, Virginia's Lucy Dacus is gearing up to release her sophomore album Historian next month. Today the third single from the album has been shared. Called "Next of Kin," the song refers to closing herself off from the world and waswritten following a series of panic attacks Dacus started to experience after the release of her debut album, No Burden. The song follows previous singles "Night Shift" and "Addictions." Historian will be out March 2 on Matador. KEXP is bringing Lucy Dacus to the Tractor Tavern on Wednesday, March 28 with Northampton band And The Kids. [ Rolling Stone ]
