Multiple Mercury Award-winning artist PJ Harvey has teamed up with composer Harry Escott to soundtrack the new UK thriller Dark River. Today she's shared her take on the traditional English folk song "An Acre of Land" for the film. Dark River is out February 23 and stars Ruth Wilson, Mark Stanley, and Sean Bean. Today is the day Mark Oliver Everett has shared the second single off the forthcoming album from the Eels called "Today is the Day." The sunny, jaunty song is a stark difference from the previously released lead single and title track "The Deconstruction," which was smoldering and expansive. Portland by way of New Zealand band Unknown Mortal Orchestra recently shared the single "American Guilt." Today they've unveiled the song's video and officially announced their forthcoming album, Sex & Food. The album will be out April 6 via Jagjaguwar and was explained by bandleader Ruban Nielson, who “wanted to embrace this abandoned genre of rock music that I keep reading is ‘dead’ and invite people to hear what this living dead genre sounds like in the UMO universe.” KEXP and STG are bringing Unknown Mortal Orchestra to the Moore Theatre on Monday, May 7. Los Angeles art-rapper Busdriver has blessed us with a jazzy new single called "The Imperfect Cinema." The one-off single follows up his return last month with the single "GUSH," which was his first work since 2015's Thumbs. Frankies Cosmos has shared the updated "Being Alive" from the Greta Kline-led project's forthcoming album Vessel. The song is actually not new and first appeared on 2014's Affirms Glinting, but now that Kline has acquired a backing band the song has taken on a new life. The single comes with a video by Daniel Martin that features tour footage interspersed with puppet versions of the band playing along. Vessel is out March 30 via Sub Pop (the band's first album on the label). Frankie Cosmos will be playing Neumos on Tuesday, April 17 with Ian Sweet and SOAR. [ Under the Radar ]
