K-pop band Loona have unveiled a teaser video for a new song that features vocals from Grimes. Titled “love4eva,” the song is credited to “yyxy” or “youth youth by young,” a sub-group of Loona featuring members Yves, Chuu, Go Won, and Olivia Hye. The video claims the song is duo out May 30. Recently, Grimes revealed the working tracklist for her upcoming album and also teased a collaboration with Youtube star Poppy. Portland-based Wooden Shjips have shared one last single before they release their next album, V, tomorrow. Titled “Already Gone,” the relaxed psychedelic track follows “Staring at the Sun” and “Red Line” and comes accompanied by a video. Directed by frontman Ripley Johnson and his Moon Duo bandmate Sanae Yamada, the clip follows Johnson around during a beautiful day in Portland while he rides bikes, plays hacky sack, and plays music with his band in a record store. V is Wooden Shjips first album in five years and will be released via Thrill Jockey. The band will take the Crocodile stage on Saturday, May 26. [ Stereogum ]
Midwestern emo/indie/pop punk band The Get Up Kids are returning with their first release in seven years and first through Polyvinyl, Kicker. The EP sees the band turning the lyrical focus towards more grown-up concerns relevant to the band, now in their 40s. “We've been playing with this idea about how you can translate the ‘emo themes’ — the ‘I miss my girlfriend’ kind of thing — into feelings that are relevant to being an adult,” says Matt Pryor. Today, the band has shared the single “Better This Way,” which follows lead single and EP opener, “Maybe.” The song comes with a video directed by Shawn Brackbill that follows and teenager in an underground foosball competition.
