Misundvrstood & Gypsy Temple finished off Day 2 of KEXP's Little London Plane broadcast at Upstream Music Festival with an excellent performance that showcased the band's unique blend of rock, soul, and rap. Misundvrstood & Gypsy Temple appeared in this past year's Sound Off, the all ages battle of the bands at MoPOP. This distinction is absolutely deserved, the group an exuberant and talented live act that is sure to continue to make noise around the Seattle area.
An ongoing collaboration between talented rapper and lyricist Misundvrstood and soul/rock group Gypsy Temple, the group stretched to a seven piece for this set, performing tracks off their self-titled collaborative EP. Misundvrstood's lyrics and energy were a perfect anchor to the band's music, that moved between genres and tones. The groups had an infectious energy, constantly interacting and trading off the spotlight, and filling the Little London Plane space with an enthusiastic audience.
Misundvrstood & Gypsy Temple have some tour dates lined up through the summer, including a performance at the Timber Music Festival on July 12. Tour dates are available on their website.
From the much anticipated Jawbreaker reunion, main stage sets from Zola Jesus and TacoCat, and sets from up-and-coming locals like Great Grandpa and Lushloss; the fest has proved to be an embarrassment of riches for talent.
